Melika Hadžic embarked on her musical journey at the age of six in Bosnia and Herzegovina. As a ten year old she was already giving solo recitals across the region. At the age of twelve she made a recording of Bruch violin concerto with Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra and was recognised as a great musical potential.
In 1992, Melika continued with her classical violin studies at the Academy of Music in Zagreb, Croatia. Apart from public performances she was winner of numerous awards including prizes at the International Violin Competition in Gorizia, Italy and Jaroslav Kocian European Violin Competition.
She went on to study violin in Vienna, at the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst and later, at the Royal Academy of Music in London. In 1998 she moved across the Atlantic to the United States where she proceeded with her studies at Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana. After receiving her Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance, she returned to Sarajevo.
